Obituary of William Thomas Fitchett
After a long battle with diabetes and heart disease Bill passed away peacefully with his loving wife Myrna by his side.
He will be sadly missed by Myrna and his four children and their families: Janice (Stan), Samantha and Ryan; Jeffrey (Joanne), Ariel and Tanyon; Keith (Stacie), Willis and Jordayn; Kathryn (Robert), Megan and Matthew; as well as his sister Pat; brother Norman; in-laws: Grant and Trudy; and numerous nieces and nephews. Bill was predeceased by his sisters: Elsie, Myrtle and Audrey; one brother Ernest and their spouses.
Bill was employed by the Manitoba Liquor Commission for 42 years. He managed the liquor store in Morris, Manitoba for most of his career and was a very active member of the Morris community serving on Town Council from 1974 to 1995 and as Deputy Mayor for many years. He was active in the United Church and in many community projects and committees.
Bill loved holidays with his family and often spoke of favorite trips including a visit to India, Thailand and Hong Kong. He was fiercely proud of his family and many will recall his stories as well as his loud distinctive laugh. Bill and Myrna moved to Winnipeg in 1999.
According to Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated. A family service and interment will take place later this year.
