Angeline, daughter of Marie-Anne and Joseph Beaudette was born and raised on a farm just East of St. Jean Baptiste. Angeline and Leandremet quite by accident. The story goes that in 1948 the barn was on fire at her parent’s yard and while running to the neighbours for help, a car stopped to ask if she needed help. Inside that car she spotted the man who would become the love of her life – Leandre!
They were married in St. Jean Catholic Church on October 28, 1950 and started dairy farming with Leandre’s sister and husband between St. Jean and Letellier. Here their first two children were born, sons; Raymond and Lionel. In 1958 they moved to a small yard between St. Jean and St. Joseph where their third son Al was born. In 1960, an existing yard and land came available close to St. Elizabeth and they moved their family and were blessed with two more children- finally a daughter; Dianeand their fourth son, Claude. They enjoyed the friendships of close neighbours in this small close-knit community, they constructed a hog barn and farmed successfully here for 17 years.
In 1977 they moved the family home to St. Jean Baptiste and renovated it to suit their retirement needs. They enjoyed 11 happy years here together and loved to entertain their growing family and many neighbours and friends. After Leandre’s passing, mom moved to a small house in Letellier until 2000 when her ideal suite, she called her “Chalet”, at the Paradis des Pioneer became available. She lived there for her remaining years and loved her garden, flowers and watching the birds at her many bird feeders and baths in her surrounding garden. Mom enjoyed knitting and crocheting afghans for all her children and grandchildren and made many items for charities. She loved helping her neighbours and friends at the Paradis by driving to go on outings or shopping trips. She especially enjoyed traveling with her sister and close friends and made albums of all her trips to share the beauty she had seen.
Mom loved visits from friends, family and especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She always had treats ready at hand for them and open arms for some big hugs. Mom always enjoyed a good joke; her laugh and that smile will always remain in ourhearts andmemories.
Mom had an infinite belief in the power of prayer and her God which gave her peace in her final days here with her family.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Morris Hospital for their excellent care during her stay; as well, the Home Care staff of Silver Lining Care whose compassion and service allowed mom the opportunity and dignity to remain in her home for her last year; and, to the caring staff and her friend Denise at the Paradis des Pioneer in St Jean Baptiste. A special “Thankyou” to Diane for her unending love and attentiveness to mom’s needs.
A private family service will take place in her memory. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Manitoba.
