Susan was predeceased by her husband John, son Bryan, her parents Abram and Dora Schroeder, and five sisters, Dorothy, Kay, Lillian, Anne and Mary.
Susan was born July 2, 1922, the second oldest of eight girls. They lived in Lowe Farm, Darlingford, Morden and then Morris. Susan was 16 years old when her mother died so she quit school and went to work to help support the family. She loved her sisters dearly and was always concerned for their well-being.
On June 21, 1942, she married the love of her life, John Eidse and God blessed them with 72 years of marriage.
Susan had numerous hobbies and interests. She loved planting big gardens and sharing the produce with family and her siblings. She loved planting flowers as well and had beautiful peony bushes which were her favorite. She loved to quilt and made numerous blankets, also knitting projects.
She was a very social person and loved entertaining at home with birthday parties, BBQ’s and quilting bees. She was a good cook/baker and the pantry was full of canned goodies after the garden harvest.
She also worked outside the home as a Fuller Brush saleswoman, banquet supervisor at Ramada Inn, and at Eventide Home for 15 years as a health care aide.
Later in her retirement years dad and her joined a senior slow pitch baseball team and played for 2 years along with her sister Dorothy.
Mom and dad volunteered at Union Gospel Mission and were there for a number of years, mom helping in the kitchen and sewing aprons for the cooks who worked there.
They loved travelling (Victoria, B.C., Las Vegas, California, Hawaii and Germany to name a few).
The family wishes to thank the Lindenwood Manor homecare staff for going above and beyond in mom’s last year there and the excellent care over the 8 years she was there. Also the excellent care the staff at River Park Gardens gave her in the last 17 days before her passing. She loved her new place and being the social person she was, she knew all the names of the people around her table at meal times.
Her favorite saying in the last few years was, "Don't worry about me, God is looking after me" and He is!
A private family burial will take place in the near future and a memorial service will be planned at a later date.
