Obituary of Audrey Geraldine Anderson

Following a lengthy illness Audrey passed away October 31, 2021 at the Red River Valley Lodge at the age of 68 years She is survived by step-daughter Paula (Lorne) Fedoruk; two sons: David (Brenda) Bell and Jeff Anderson; grandchildren: Ryan, Robyn, Raelyn, Molly; great grandchildren: Thaddeus, Tobias; sisters: Kathy Braun and Carol Heinrichs and many nieces and nephews. Audrey was predeceased by her first husband David Bell (1973), second husband Paul Anderson (2013), parents Arnold and Nettie (nee Hiebert) Heinrichs; brother Raymond. Audrey was best known as Turkey and was rarely called by her formal name. She got her nickname from her first husband David because of her signature laugh - and her long neck. Turkey lived most of her life in Morris, Manitoba but eventually made the lake town of Buffalo Point her and Paul's permanent residence. Turkey's talents were best remembered in the kitchen. Her love for baking was discovered as a child in her mother’s kitchen where she fell in love with sweet treats. Everyone visited her home remembers the amazing pies and cakes - Mexican cake was her signature dessert. Her dinners were also a spectacular event. Thanksgiving was her favourite holiday and the feasts were endless. Her love was always evident in her food. For a summer or two she ran The Galley restaurant at the marina. She was in her element of cooking, serving drinks and socializing with her friends and community. Those years were her favourite because she got to share her love with her community. Turkey was an animal lover as well. Her and Paul always had dogs by their side. The wild deer also knew which house had the best food and could often be found standing on their porch waiting for their food scraps. It was truly magical to visit their home and share their yard with the wild animals. In her final years as a widow, she was diagnosed with COPD and needed more assistance. The lodge in Morris became her home where she made the staff smile and laugh on a regular basis with her sarcastic humour. We are grateful for the wonderful care she received in her final years of life. We would also like to thank Barry and Pauline Norris for their unconditionally friendship. A memorial service is planned for May of 2022.
