Obituary of Neta Loewen

Neta Irene Loewen (nee Friesen), age 72 years, of Morris, Manitoba passed away December 7, 2021 at the St. Pierre Hospital. She is survived by her husband Jim Loewen, three daughters: Cynthia (Graeme) Wedge, Theresa (Jeremy) Epp, and Jocelyn Loewen; two sons: Curtis and James; seven grandchildren: Liam, Aidan, Abigail, Elise, Ava Jayne, Amalia, and Emma; one sister, three brothers and numerous nieces and nephews. Neta was predeceased her parents Gerhard and Neta Friesen and one brother-in-law. Neta was raised in Arnaud, MB. She was a bright and fun young girl, who worked hard on the family farm. As a young child, she suffered from rheumatic fever which caused the heart condition that ultimately led to her heart failure. She married Jim in April 1971 and they were able to celebrate their 50th anniversary earlier this year. Together they raised 5 children. She tended to their large garden to feed the family, sewed clothing and worked outside of the home when the children were a little older. Later she was employed by various barns, working with pigs, right until July 2020. She defined what it means to persevere and fight thru challenging circumstances. She taught us how to advocate for the vulnerable as her son Curtis had special needs. She worked extremely hard to support our family and sustain the home, continuously putting the needs of the family before her own. The family wishes to thank Dr. Kolakowski and staff at Morris Hospital, the Heart Failure Clinic at St. Boniface Hospital, the Southern Health Palliative team, Greendale Estates in Grunthal, and St. Pierre Hospital. In the past year, our mom received incredible care and support from each of these places. At this time, we acknowledge the life and faith of our dear Mother. While we grieve, we are also comforted at knowing our Mom is free. We cherish the love and example of her life. The funeral service for Neta Loewen will be held Friday, December 10, 2021 at 10:30 am at the Maranatha Church in Niverville, Manitoba. Those who wish to attend the funeral must present a proof of vaccination. Public viewing will be held at Morris Funeral Home, Thursday, December 9, 2021 from 12:00pm to 7:00pm, and at the church prior to the funeral service. Donations in memory of Neta may be made to the Special Olympics. A video of the funeral service will be share with a link below this obituary.
