Gloria Bowie

Obituary of Gloria Bowie

Gloria Bowie (nee Clark), wife of Dan Bowie (married 32 years), passed unexpectedly on May 30th, 2022 at age 64 from a heart attack. Gloria was born in Ottawa, Ontario on July 12th, 1957 to Iva and Royden Clark as the youngest of four. She loved her siblings: Colin (deceased), Don (spouse: Rhonda), and Guy (deceased). Throughout her life Gloria lived in many parts of Canada including Ontario, Alberta, British Columbia, and Manitoba, settling in St. Jean, Manitoba. Gloria found her purpose in her work as a personal support worker and cared deeply for her clients. Although Gloria kept a small circle of people around her, those of us who were lucky enough to be in that circle knew her to be nurturing, loving and a pleasure to be around and talk to…after her morning coffee. She was a both smart and absent minded. She would watch jeopardy and get more answers right (and faster) than contestants on the show and yet constantly misplace her coffee, keys, and a myriad of other things. She loved music and was as passionate about her love of Cat Stevens and Janis Joplin as her distaste for country and western music. While she was extremely secretive of her creative talents, she was a wonderful artist, musician, and writer. She loved her Husband, children, and grandchildren fiercely. Making sure her family were cared for was the most important thing to her, she did not hesitate to make sacrifices for them. She was also an avid pet lover, having many cats and dogs and even a monkey when she was a kid, her latest dog Duncan has been especially spoiled by her. Her love will carry forward with her children: Heather Clark and Mike Bowie (spouse Melissa), and her grandchildren: Aryanna, Erica, and Tienna Bowie, and Audrey and Cole Clark-O’Brien. She will be sorely missed by us, her extended family including her brother Don, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing and loving her. The family will have a private service to remember her. In lieu of sending flowers to the family, please consider donating to the Huntington’s society of Canada.
