Thanks to Jerry's help we had a great volunteer from Rosenort for a few years. Several metal trees were created for our Shining Lights events throughout the Red River Valley area. Jerry also found many other ways to lend a hand once he joined the Red River Valley Palliative Care team. A special friend to the community!

Jerry drove for the Morris District Handi-Van Service for many years. I am the Coordinator of that organization so he and I "texted" just hours before he passed as he accepted a last-minute trip, as was usual for him. Whenever I was desperately seeking a driver, I could count on him. He, and his humour, will be sorely missed. His influence on his family was also demonstrated. They some-how noticed, through the pain and confusion of his passing, the trip he had accepted and contacted the Morris Hospital requesting them to notify me that he would not be driving the next day. Amazing! I, the passenger, and the passenger's family will be eternally grateful. Thank you. On raising your family, "You done good, Jerry!" To Jerry's family, my sincere condolences.

I am grateful for having had the opportunity to know Jerry and for the impact he had in my life when I was a young man. As an "outsider" growing up in Rosenort, life was often interesting. I certainly learned to tell the difference between those who talked like Christians and those who lived like Christians. Jerry was one who lived it. He always treated our family with full respect and dignity. He hired me to work at his business. As I proved myself, he gave me new opportunities to expand and grow and develop. He showed me what being a leader (or a boss) could be like. I learned a lot in a short time with him and it had a big impact on how I lived my life. So, I tam truly thankful for the time we shared. He didn't have to hire me, as he could have hired a lot of kids back then, but that opportunity in my life made a difference. I'm glad I had the opportunity. I have often thought of him over the years. I really hope life was been good to him. Thank you for everything Jerry. Jerry and I had dinner in late August in 2022, where I had the opportunity to tell him all this in person. My condolences to his family and all his friends.

I always knew who Jerry was but didn't really get to know him until visiting at the lodge. My Dad (John Schroeder who was your Grandma Lena Kehler's first cousin) was a resident at the lodge. He was a joy to visit and share a laugh with. Then this past year I met him while volunteering at the lodge. We shared a comminality of being caregivers to our spouses and shared some tears and laughter. To me his biggest attribute was love. His heart so big and full of love for your Mom before and then as she was sick was so touching to watch. Incredible. He was true to his wedding vows and much more. What an example for you as a family as you mourn and grieve and continue to live without your parents! Praying for you all. He will be sorely missed. My sympathy to your family, the Friesen and my cousins, the Kehlers.

It was such a sudden loss, uncle Jerry was always a joy to be around. He had a warm smile and a big heart, he loved all his family.
Everyone got their own nickname, mine was Sari.
He will be missed by many.

I'm forever going to miss going to his house and eating popcorn while watching sports I always asked him why they did the this they did on tv so he called me his lilltle y girl. I'm gonna miss helping babysit his daughters dog and riding on his golf cart down the pathways at the park. I will never forget these wonderful memories and will forever miss him.

We got to know Jerry when he started driving Ian to dialysis at St. Boniface Hospital on Wednesdays. His sense of humour helped Ian relax, especially the first few times. Ian always had a "Jerry" story to tell.
Jerry picked Ian up for the Christmas dinner last December and sat with him too. We, as Ian's family, could never thank Jerry enough for his kindness to Ian over the years. Ian will miss him a lot.
We are all so sorry for your loss and hope the memories of your father help you through this very difficult time.

We were so sorry to hear of Jerry’s passing. What a warm and friendly guy he was! He sat behind me in Grade 2 and our talking got us both into trouble! We joked about that a few times when we would meet him at the Lodge when my dad was a resident there along with Nancy. We watched as he so dearly cared and loved her. Such a wonderful man! Our condolences and sympathies to the entire family. Can’t help but think he had the biggest smile yet on his face when he saw Nancy again. Treasure those memories!

We were sorry to hear of Gerry's passing. We were next door neighbours to Gerry and Nancy in the late 60's before we moved to BC. We remember Gerry as someone who was very friendly and usually had a smile on his face, sometimes a mischievous one.
Our thoughts and prayers are with your family.
