Obituary of Lucille Olive Ayotte

Lucille Olive Ayotte (Clément) November 27, 1930 – September 10, 2024 It is with great sadness we announce the passing of our beloved mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend on September 10, 2024 at her home in Morris, Manitoba. She leaves to mourn her children, Dolores & Ray (Dumontier), Lorraine & Reed (Turcotte), Richard & Diane (Lajeunesse) and Roger & Carol (Grégoire). She also leaves precious grandchildren and great-grandchildren which brought her great joy along with many nieces and nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, her husband René, one brother and three sisters. Lucille was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She loved her family very much & the family was her pride & joy. Mom was a very hard worker & farmed alongside her husband, René for many years until 1980. They later sold the farm in 1992 & had a home built in Morris. Mom & Dad travelled to Hawaii, Alaska, Vancouver, Montreal, Quebec City, the Maritimes, Florida, Texas, California & Mexico. Mom also enjoyed going on bus trips to various casinos. She was well known to her family as an excellent cook making the best “tourtières” & all types of fruit pies as well as her wonderful lemon meringue pies. She always planted a huge garden & would say each year that she would plant a smaller one but ended up planting as much or more then the previous year. She enjoyed the fresh vegetables harvested from her garden & always went out of her way to get fresh B.C. fruits. She also went to pick fresh strawberries & raspberries. Growing up, she always made sure everyone ate well. She made dill pickles, bread & butter & Gherkin pickles. She also canned a lot of vegetables, fruits & also froze vegetables. She made sure the freezer was full & that we had enough food to last us throughout the winter. At Christmas, she would make her famous meatballs & bake an assortment of cookies & various goodies. After retirement, she continued to plant a large garden. She was an avid fan of curling, watching it on TV & would look forward to actively participate in the Morris Senior Ladies Curling team. She enjoyed going for coffee and/or lunch with friends at the local coffee shop. Mom always looked her best with the latest fashions as she loved to go clothes shopping. It was important to look her best. She took good care of herself & never complained about her health issues. In accordance with her wishes, cremation has taken place. To honour Mom’s wishes, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Lucille’s family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at the Heavenly Home Care… especially to Kayla & Janice for all their hard work, devotion and care. We love you and you will be forever missed. Rest in peace.
