Obituary of Jacob G. Friesen
It's with great sadness we announce the passing of Jacob George Friesen of Morris, beloved husband, father and grandfather. Jake passed away peacefully at the Morris hospital on Sunday July 10, 2016 at 93 years of age.
He was predeceased by his mother Anna and father George, older brother George, and his beloved wife of over 50 years Joyce Friesen (nee Haining). He is survived and will be sorely missed by his son Rodney (Kathleen) children Lauren & Jennifer, son Kenneth (Elinor) children Courtney & Scott, and his brother Albert as well as numerous other relatives and friends.
Jake was an active member of the community throughout his life. He was instrumental in construction of the Morris hospital and served as Morris and Emerson hospitals administrator for 30 years. During that time he also undertook construction of the Red River Valley Lodge and the Davidson Memorial Center. Jake was a founding and life member of the Morris Lions club, founding member of the Morris Golf club and helped the start up of the Morris Stampede and Rodeo. Jake received numerous awards and accolades during his life for various community services and was a Red Cross blood donor for over 40 years.
The family wishes to express its appreciation to his doctor and the staff of the Morris Hospital for giving their attentive and compassionate care during his extended stay there.
If friends so desire, donations in Jake's memory may be made to the Morris United Church Memorial Fund.
The memorial service for Jake will be held at the Morris United Church on Friday July 22 , 2016 at 2 pm.
