Obituary of Nelson Claude Norris
Nelson Claude Norris, born May 8, 1955, in Morris, Manitoba; sadly lost his battle with cancer at Boundary Trails Health Centre December 19, 2024. His loving family was by his side!
He leaves the love of his life, his devoted wife of 45 years, Connie! His son David (Melanie), daughter Vicki (Dan), & Samson, our fur baby. Nelson was the fifth son of seven; he is predeceased by his parents Claude & Dorine, two brothers Wayne & Tom, and sister-in-law Monique. In addition Nelson is survived by Charles (Sandra), sister-in-laws Trish & Caren, Bob (Rita), Barry (Pauline), and Alan (Lucette). He was brother in-law to Richard, Roland (Darlene), Debbie, and Donnie, and was uncle too many nieces and nephews. Nelson always worked hard to provide for his family. His generosity and work ethics were unparalleled.
Nelson's first job was at Murray's Dept. Store and always did more than necessary! He worked for CNR on three occasions Emerson, Morris and Transcona), Nelson enjoyed his time at Manitoba Hydro (Long Spruce), construction with his brother Tom, Morris Beaver Lumber with John Enns, farming with John Dickson, and finally on May 2023, after 22 years, Nelson retired from PWGSC at Pembina - Emerson Border Crossing!
In his spare time he enjoyed making many types of yard furniture and many realistic silhouettes. Nelson's snow sculptures were exceptional. His last snow sculpture was in Honour of HRH Queen Elizabeth II. Nelson was so proud to receive a letter from HRH King Charles III in reply to the photos Nelson had sent some months earlier!
Nelson liked the outdoors! He had fond memories of time spent with his father and brothers hunting & fishing. Many hours were also spent outdoors on family vacations, during gatherings in the yard with extended family and friends playing croquet, cribbage, and other games. Nelson spent time on the golf course enjoying a round of golf with his brothers and nephews! But most of all Nelson enjoyed being outdoors at a horseshoe pit! At Horseshoes Tournaments Nelson was the one everyone tried to beat!
