Udo Penner

Obituary of Udo Penner

Tragically due to an automobile accident, Udo Penner left this earth to be with his Heavenly Father on Sunday July 31, 2016. Udo leaves to mourn his wife of 52 years Charlotte (nee Enns), sons Rolf (Debbie) and Kurt (Lynn) and his grandchildren Cassandra, Sean, Andrew and Matthias who brought him endless hours of joy and laughter. He also leaves behind his sisters Elfriede (Hans Rheinhard), Hannelore, and Ursula (Ingo), in-laws Elfrieda (Neil), Hilda (Ed) and John (Lyn) and numerous nieces and nephews. Udo was born in Danzig, Germany on November 6, 1939 to Bruno and Elfriede Penner. His family immigrated to Canada in 1951 and settled near Ste. Elizabeth, MB. The family farm which they built remained Udo’s home until his passing. Together with Charlotte, and son Rolf, Udo enjoyed farming with a passion. Udo was actively involved in their church as a deacon and served on numerous committees. He was also very active within his community over the years. He was truly a man of family, faith and farming. We would like to thank all friends and neighbours for their support and the paramedics, firefighters and RCMP who responded quickly and professionally. In addition, we would like to thank all the health care providers at St. Pierre Hospital, Victoria Hospital and the Health Sciences Centre who tended to Charlotte during this difficult time. The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 16th at 2:30 pm at the Elim Mennonite Church, Main St., Grunthal, MB. A private family interment will take place prior to the funeral. Donations may be made to Food Growers Bank or a charity of one’s choice.
