My condolences on the passing of Roger. I am a fellow umpire from Portage and worked several times with Roger on the baseball diamond. He was a hoot to work with, and a lot of fun. He certainly had a love for the game. He will be missed!!

Roger seemed larger than life on so many occasions. I distinctly recall his deep belly laugh and the twinkle in his eyes. I was privileged to share duties behind the bench during our kids early hockey years, and his knowledge of rules, no matter how obscure, always amazed me. If he didn't know the details, we were sure to know about them in short order. I recall, in wonderment, his alternate career as a baseball umpire. His attention to detail transcended into his working life. Watching Roger operate a piece of heavy equipment with surgical skill was indeed something to see! His greatest joy was his family, and he would glow with pride and love whenever he talked about Susan or the kids. He will be deeply missed, but he is home now, being welcomed by those who went before him. God speed, friend.
