Obituary of Wilfred Earnest Blunt

Wilf died peacefully at the Vita Personal Care Home after a long struggle with pneumonia with family by his side. Wilf was born in Glace Bay, Cape Britton, and moved to Ontario (Toronto) as a youth. He met and married his love of his life in 1951 he then joined the Canadian Armed Forces and served in the 48th Hylanders from 1951 to 1955; in the Anti Tank and Bren Gun Corps during the Korean War. In 1954 he was transferred to Halifax and Kentville, Nova Scotia where he resided until 1960 when he and his family of five moved back to Ontario and in 1994 moved to Manitoba where he resided until his passing. Wilf is survived by three daughters: Evelyn, Nancy and Ivy; three sons: Sterling, Danny and Ed; one sister Linda; 12 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Wilf was predeceased by his parents, his wife Bernice of 59 years, four sisters and two brothers, one granddaughter and one grandson. Wilf loved hunting, fishing, watching curling, reading, playing pool with the guys and tinkering with anything that had a motor. He was a member of Stuartburn Gospel Chapel for many years and enjoyed his fellowship with his church family and time spent with his family and friends. Wilf had a great sense of humour that was always present. The funeral service will be held at the Stuartburn Gospel Chapel, on Thursday, July 20, 2023 at 1:00pm. Viewing will take place at the church prior to the funeral service. Interment will take place at the Stuartburn Grace Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Vita Personal Care Home, for their outstanding care and personal attention and communication with family, also to Pastor Mark Funk for officiating the funeral service. Donations in memory of Wilf may be made to the Stuartburn Gospel Chapel.
