Obituary of Johnny Isaac Friesen

Johnny passed away peacefully at the Red River Valley Lodge in Morris, Manitoba, February 28, 2017. Johnny was born September 12, 1920 in Naumowka, Ukraine. He moved to Canada in 1926. He met the love of his life in 1946 and soon after got married. Johnny was active in church, 4H, fastball, ice-hockey, curling and golfing. He also played hockey for the Winnipeg Monarchs, coached baseball, volunteered at the Morris Stampede and he loved going to the Grunthal Auction Mart. His passion was his strong faith in God, hunting, fishing, muskrat trapping, farming, his friends and especially his family and his beautiful wife Betty. Johnny lit up the room whenever he entered. He could make a friend wherever he went with his quick sense of humor, his mischievous smile and love for life. He never lived to retire, but lived his life to the fullest. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife Betty of 70 years, his six children: Linda (Werner) Pauls, Suzanne (Ulf) Kyra, Randolph (Nora) Friesen, Barbara (Daryl) Loewen, Jeff (Catherine) Friesen, Allyson (Roland) Relf. He is also remembered by 16 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. The family would like to thank the Red River Valley Lodge staff, Dr. Fraser and the Home Care Staff. The funeral service will be held Friday, March 3, 2017 at 2:00pm at the Open Door Church located at the Morris MultiPlex. Donations in memory of Johnny may be made to the Red River Valley Lodge.
